Why Now?

Across the country, LGBTQIA rights are under attack, and representation is

being politicized and erased. At moments like this, visibility matters more than

ever.

Fire Island has always been a refuge — a place where our community could

gather, express, and create freely. This film festival carries that spirit forward,

preserving stories that reflect the full spectrum of queer life.

By hosting GAP here, in Cherry Grove and the Pines, we are not just showcasing

films — we’re affirming that queer culture belongs in the spotlight, celebrated

on its own terms.

Now is the time to protect, amplify, and revel in our stories: films that bring

nuance, connection, resilience, and joy.
